On January 2nd 2013, Altivia Corporation announced that it has been sold for $125 million to Brenntag, the German-headquartered global leader in chemical distribution.
Due to this transaction, it will provide an opportunity to Altivia Corporation’s employees and core businesses to join with a global leader and drastically expand their market reach. Altivia Chemicals, LLC, the company’s affiliate will continue to operate the ferric and ferrous sulphate production facilities in Pasadena, Texas and would get new chemical manufacturing investments and operate the iron and aluminium polymer coagulants business, according to J. Michael Jusbasche, Altivia’s CEO and founder.
Altivia Corp., a Houston chemical company, was founded in 1986 and is a leading regional producer and distributor of water treatment additives and commodity chemicals. It has its manufacturing and distribution facilities in Houston, San Antonio, Manor, Texas, Marlow, Oklahoma, St. Gabriel, and Louisiana. The company manufactures products, such as aluminium sulphate, chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, Aqualum and sulphuric acid, for different water treatment applications for both industrial and municipal customers, according to the information published by Houston Business Journal.
Brenntag is the global market leader in chemical distribution. It is headquartered in Germany and operates in more than 400 locations in 70 countries. The company provides business-to-business distribution solutions for industrial and special chemicals globally. It also produces over 10,000 products and offers solutions to more than 160,000 customers. It provides services such as just-in-time delivery, product mixing, formulation, repackaging, and inventory management. In 2011 the company made global sales of USD 12.1 billion with nearly 13,000 employees.
Brenntag has its North American headquarters in Reading, Pa., with 3,600 North American employees at 120 locations, which also include facilities in Houston and Pasadena.
